Dujon Sterling misses Rangers training camp but 'serious' injury fears allayed over new signing

Dujon Sterling has not travelled to Rangers pre-season training base in Germany after picking up a calf injury.

The right-back has arrived as part of boss Michael Beale's summer revamp as he looks to challenge James Tavernier's starting slot at Ibrox. But according to the Scottish Sun, a knock has stopped him from travelling abroad for the latest round of preparations for the Premiership term and Champions League qualifiers. Fears have been allayed on potential time on the sidelines, as it is claimed 'the issue is not deemed serious by the club’s medical staff, however, it was decided Sterling would be better staying in Scotland to undergo treatment rather than travel with the squad.

This injury is only regarded as a 'slight' set-back for Sterling, who spent last season out on loan at English Championship side Stoke City. Rangers have undergone a major rebuild that includes the signing of the full-back, Kieran Dowell, Jack Butland, Sam Lammers, Abdallah Sima and Cyriel Dessers.
