Duet Night Abyss isn’t particularly stable right now, and you might find yourself stuck in the dreaded ‘Fatal Error’ loop. While this isn’t going to lock you out of your account, it does hinder your overall progression. How to Fix the DNA Launcher Fatal Error
Launching the game might often throw the ‘Fatal Error - UE4-EMLauncher Game Has Crashed’ dialog box, which is immediately followed by the game closing on its own. This is unfortunately a very common error, and will likely need an update or two to fix.
Interestingly, this doesn’t appear to be a PC driver issue and is likely due to a combination of factors, including an internet connectivity issue and game file corruption. There are a few ways to address the issue:
Repair the game client
Corrupted game files can trigger the Fatal Error message, which is often fixed by verifying the game’s file integrity.
- Start the Duet Night Abyss game launcher.
- Click on the hamburger menu (three parallel dashes) on the right side of the start button.
- Click the Repair Now button in the pop-up menu.
- Hit the Confirm button. This will take a while, so wait until it finishes before you try to play again.
Launch the game with DirectX 11
Duet Night Abyss also lets you launch the game with DirectX 11 instead of 12 (the default). It’s pretty easy to enable—simply click the Launch with DirectX 11 option above the Start button.
You’ll know it's enabled once you see a check mark beside the text. Doing this forces the game to run in DirectX 11. Interestingly enough, the game itself recommends switching to DirectX 11, which appears to be a whole lot more stable.
Duet Night Abyss Fatal Error FAQ
There is no proper way to deal with this just yet. You can try either using a VPN or restarting your router to see if it helps fix the issue. Otherwise, try logging in after an hour or two to see if it enables you to log back in.
Try switching to a wired internet connection, or switch to mobile data and see if it helps. This is very likely a server-side issue and will require the devs to fix it. This should also hopefully stabilize with an update or two.
Try restarting your game launcher first. If this fails, try opening Task Manager and quitting the process manually using the End Task button. Restart your game launcher, and the error should be fixed now.
