Ducks' 5-game win streak ends after Jets rally

WINNIPEG, Manitoba _ Mark Scheifele scored with 1:26 left in overtime as the Winnipeg Jets brought an end to the Ducks' five-game winning streak with a 4-3 comeback victory Thursday night.

Corey Perry scored twice and Jonathan Bernier made 36 saves but the Ducks could not hold a two-goal third-period lead. The Ducks had a 30-2-1 record when leading after two periods.

The Ducks (41-23-12) attempted to remain on top of the Pacific Division as their contenders for the crown tried to keep pursuit. San Jose and Edmonton were playing each other Thursday, with the teams in a second-place tie and one point behind entering Thursday's games.

Jakob Silfverberg also scored for the Ducks, who still pushed their best run of the season to a 9-1-2 mark over the last 12 games. Three members of their blue line _ Josh Manson, Hampus Lindholm and Sami Vatanen _ each had an assist.

Perry broke a 1-1 tie late in the first period when he jumped on a rebound created by Antoine Vermette's shot and slid his backhand effort past Winnipeg goalie Michael Hutchinson. The winger then made it a 3-1 game with a power-play conversion between Hutchinson's pads at 7:01 of the second.

What seemed like a routine victory was put into doubt when Blake Wheeler snapped a one-time shot past Bernier off a pass from Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers. The Jets, energized by a sellout MTS Centre crowd, continued to press.

Hutchinson came off for an extra attacker with 1:52 left but the Ducks were well into survival mode and managed to block a number of Jets shot attempts. Bernier also made a save on Patrik Laine with 48.4 left. But they couldn't finish in regulation.

As the Ducks were scrambling around in their own end and couldn't clear the puck, Byfuglien found the puck loose in the crease and pushed it over the goal line to wipe out the two-goal deficit.

The Ducks grabbed the lead for the second straight game when Silfverberg got his 22nd goal of the season on a wrist shot after a faceoff win by linemate Ryan Kesler. Winnipeg tied it when Joel Armia fought off a check by Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf and score a short-handed goal.
