Dubliners can now request for their streets to be cleaned with new online schedule

Dublin City Council's waste management services have launched an interactive online cleaning schedule.

Dubliners can see when their area is being cleaned and can also request for their street to be tidied up.

A map allows users to type in their street or estate name to see when their next cleaning block is.

There are a number of factors that determine how frequently an area is cleaned.

A grading system splits up the areas of Dublin based on footfall and the priority of the location.

Local teams also carry out daily inspections to see if a street needs to be cleaned quicker than planned.

Dublin City Council posted: "Waste Management Services have introduced an interactive online cleaning schedule, that informs customers of the cleaning schedule for all streets in Dublin City Council's administrative area."

Some Facebook users were quick to point out areas in dire need of cleaning.

One person said: "Harrington Street early Sunday morning every bin full and litter falling out of bins near St Kevin's Church very bad need bins cleared more regularly."

Another wrote: "You'd need a degree in computer science to use that. Regular sweeping of cycle lanes would be great. There is glass on the Arran Quay one for weeks."
