Dubliner Dean Barry lands UFC deal on same day his son is born

Dubliner Dean Barry has become the latest Irish fighter to ink a deal with the UFC.

Barry - who has a 3-1 record - joins the roster after catching the company's attention with a show-stopping KO win under the UAE Warriors banner in September.

All three of the Tallaght man's professional wins to date have come by knockout and his latest stunning victory over Abdulla Al Bousheiri two months ago helped elevate the Straight Blast Gym scrapper to the big-time.

Barry will become the 12th Irish fighter to fight in the UFC when he takes to the octagon to kick off a multi-fight deal. He joins Conor McGregor and Rhys McKee as the third active fighter on the UFC's books.

Barry signed the contract on the same day his son Jayce was born and took to Instagram to share his ecstatic reaction.

He wrote: "Jayce my son, where do I begin.

"My beautiful little miracle arrived into this world the same day I received a life changing contract.

"He couldn't wait 2 more weeks he wanted to see the news first hand.

"Over night I became the luckiest man in the whole world becoming a father and Joining the @ufc. I love you son im going to fight my heart out to give you the best chance at life. The best gift I ever received was you son."
