Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecast spike in temperatures after cold spell

The weather is set to get warmer with possible highs of 18 degrees over the coming days as Ireland says goodbye to the cold spell that hit the country this week.

This morning will be mostly dry in Dublin with isolated showers possible but scattered showers will develop during the afternoon with a chance of hail. Temperatures will reach 11 or 12 degrees with light to moderate northwesterly breezes.

Early tonight, any isolated showers will die away, becoming dry with long clear spells. It will be chilly in Dublin, with lowest temperatures of 0 to 3 degrees in light westerly or variable breezes with mist and fog patches developing.

Tomorrow will be dry at first in the capital with sunny spells but cloud will build from the southwest during the afternoon with some patchy light rain or drizzle following. Highest temperatures will reach around 12 degrees with moderate southerly winds developing.

While there is no further forecast for Dublin, here is what Met Eireann's national outlook says:

Sunday

"A dull start with patchy outbreaks of light rain and drizzle along with lingering patches of mist and fog. Becoming drier with some sunny spells developing as the day goes on. Mild with highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees generally, possibly reaching 18 degrees, with light to moderate southerly breeze.

Monday

"A good deal of cloud in the morning with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle. The rain and drizzle will die away through the afternoon as sunny spells develop. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in mostly moderate southerly breezes.

"Dry overnight with long clear spells. Fog will form in light southeasterly or variable breezes. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 7 degrees.

Tuesday

"A mostly dry and sunny day with just isolated showers. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees generally, cooler near southern and eastern coasts due to an onshore breeze."
