Dublin Weather: Huge change forecast for Ireland as Met Eireann say sunshine will be gone in a flash

Met Eireann was warned of a big potential downturn as spells of "good sunshine" could turn to "heavy showers, hail, and risk of thunder" in the space of days.

Dublin has been wonderful so far this week and the trend will keep going for Wednesday as the experts say things will be bright and fresh will a little bit of wind later on.

Sadly heavy showers are going to move in from Thursday, and hail and thunder could be on the cards.

They said: "Today will be largely dry in Dublin with good sunshine. Highest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees with moderate southwest winds.

"Tonight will become quite blustery as south to southwest winds freshen. It will be mainly dry with clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 6 or 7 degrees.

"Thursday will start off dry with sunny spells. However heavy showers will spread from the south during the morning and will continue for the rest of the day.

"Some of these will merge to longer spells of rain with a risk of thunder and hail. Highest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees with fresh, gusty southerly winds."

It's too early for a specific Dublin prediction beyond Thursday, but the national forecast for Friday suggests we could be in for some heavy rain, hail, and even thunder.

It's going to be a cool but calm week (Ventusky)

They said: "Friday will be very showery day with widespread heavy showers of rain or hail and a risk of thunder. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with mostly light variable breezes, but fresher along coasts. Showers will continue on Friday night.

"Saturday will a cool day with bright spells and further heavy showers of rain or hail and a continued risk of thunder. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with moderate to fresh northerly breezes.

"Sunday will be a brighter day in general with the best of the sunshine in the west, where there'll be a fair amount of dry weather and some scattered showers.

"In the east, there'll be further heavy showers or longer spells of rain. Highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees with moderate to fresh northerly breezes."
