Dublin shop worker's harsh 'belly' comment forces man to start running as tweet goes viral

One man's tweet has gone viral after he revealed what a Dublin shop worker said to him during a lockdown visit to his local.

The man took to Twitter to share his motivation to start running after the shopkeeper had passed a comment about his gut.

He told his followers: "Polish lady in the local garage rubbed my belly the other day and goes “you never had a belly before."

He added: "And I’ve been out running every day since."

The tweet has over 2,000 likes with many interacting with him and saying that they had experienced similar incidents with their family and friends.

One person said: "My cousin did the exact same to me at a family BBQ in August. I’ve been running at least 30km a week since and I'm down a serious amount of weight. It's a total 'I’ll show you' attitude.

A second commented: "A French girl did this to me at a party too, it's not the nicest thing to hear but can be used as motivation.

But a third told the tweeter not to mind the harsh comment.

They said: "Embrace the dad-bod and enjoy more pizza."
