Dublin getting brand new bus service as Go Ahead Ireland launch route 197 between Ashbourne and Swords

It has finally been confirmed that the National Transport Authority of Ireland has given the 'Go Ahead' for a brand new and highly sought after bus service for Dublin.

Route 197 between Ashbourne and Swords via the R125 will be operated by the bus company Go Ahead Ireland.

Welcoming the new service, councillor Darragh Butler said that it will "operate on an hourly basis on all days of the week".

He added: "I checked with the National Transport Authority and Go Ahead this week and it is planned to implement the service later this year."

It is a service that has been highly requested for years with locals crying out for a regular bus service that connects the Meath town to Dublin.

Services will primarily have a one-hour headway, except for PM peaks which will operate at a one hour and fifteen minute headway.

Dublin Live has contacted Go Ahead Ireland for more information about the new route.

According to a description of the proposed route sent to the , the bus service is required to operate 17 daily return services on Monday to Saturday and 14 daily return services on Sunday inclusive of public holidays with the exception of Christmas Day.
