Dublin Fire Brigade warning after vape catches fire and burns household furniture

Dublin Fire Brigade has issued a warning to vape users after a rechargeable vape caught fire and burned household furniture on Tuesday.

The fire completely destroyed a piece of foam furniture while also wrecking a socket in the house.

There was also damage to the wall above where the vape was charging.

Firefighters warned that electronics should be always charged on a solid, non flammable surface.

Posting about the incident on Twitter, Dublin Fire Brigade said: "Firefighters were called to a home yesterday after a rechargeable vape caught fire causing the foam furniture it was on to catch alight.

"Anything that needs charging should be charged on a solid, non flammable surface and taken off charge as soon as it is fully charged."
