Dublin Fire Brigade issues public safety alert ahead of weekend heatwave

Dublin Fire Brigade has taken to social media to issue a public safety alert ahead of the scorching conditions we can expect this coming weekend.

With that weather incoming, many more people will be getting in the water to cool off and DFB has offered advice for the best way to help anyone who may get into trouble.

Instead of jumping in yourself which might get you in trouble as well, Dublin Fire Brigade say the best way to help someone in distress is to throw a ring buoy to help.

Despite the scorching weather, the canals and rivers are still very cold which can be a shock to the system and may lead to sudden shortness of breath if people jump in suddenly.

They are also encouraging the general public to report any missing or stolen buoys so they can be replaced in time for the heatwave.

Met Eireann has predicted that the four hottest days of the year are incoming thanks to the Azores High, which is a unique 'subtropical anticyclone'.

Saturday right to Tuesday will see the dial turn up to a scorching 27C with clear skies over the weekend and into next week.

And today isn't so bad either with the Celsius ramped up to 25C with sunny spells all over Ireland.
