Dublin Fire Brigade issue important advice after garage has lucky escape when car goes on fire

A Dublin garage had a miraculous escape from danger after a car went on fire while elevated on a jack.

Thankfully, no one was harmed at the unnamed garage, despite the blaze completely destroying the interior of the vehicle as smoke billowed out of the windows and doors.

A video of the incident was published on social media on Tuesday.

In the clip, which is from April of this year, a welder can be seen working on a car while it's being held on a jack.

He fails to notice that the interior of the vehicle is slowly starting to burst into flames.

It takes almost 20 seconds for one of his co-workers to realise, at which point the team rush to grab extinguishers and buckets of water as one lowers the car from the jack.

However, the fire was not contained before the clip comes off.

DFB published the clip to their social media channels yesterday, with an important piece of advice for anyone who finds themselves in a similar situation.

"If a fire breaks out on your premises only tackle the fire if it safe to do so. Staff here did the right thing by lowering the car but this kind of fire would be unsafe to fight using extinguishers and buckets of water.
