Dublin bride ties the knot after beautiful Christmas proposal

A Dublin bride has spilled the details on her beautiful wedding and Christmas themed proposal.

Grace Burrowes wed her husband Cathal over a two day ceremony in 2021. The couple first matched on Tinder, although she jokingly adds that they prefer to say they met in Gin Palace, which was where their first date took place.

Cathal got creative by popping the question at Christmas, making full use of the festive decor to ask Grace to marry him. She reveals that the ring was discreetly hung on one of their Christmas tree ornaments, while Cathal had decorated the room with candles and roses to enhance the atmosphere.

Grace told Dublin Live: “We got married in Balyna House, Moyvalley, County Kildare. We had a humanist ceremony followed by a drinks reception, dinner and dancing- our band was back beat and they were amazing, we had a full dance floor all night.”

She purchased her classic wedding dress from Town Bride in Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, a 20-year-old boutique that sadly closed its doors this August. Meanwhile, Grace’s bridesmaids dresses came from Folkster in Dundrum, a female owned Irish brand.

The dress itself was comprised of a beautiful sleeveless design, with lace details around the neckline and upper bodice. The elegant gown was made complete with Grace’s long flowing white veil.

Grace had always planned on having a small wedding, so Covid-19 curtailments didn’t pose much of a threat to her big day. She advises brides to let themselves enjoy the wedding as it unfolds- and not to stress themselves silly about the minor details.

She explains: “Don’t sweat the small stuff because guests won’t see all the attention to detail that you have put in. Once they are well fed and there’s good music, they are happy.”

There is little Grace would change about her beautiful day. However, she recommends that brides who host a two day wedding consider investing in some additional entertainment ahead of time.
