Dublin Airport jobs: Security staff needed to x-ray baggage with great perks

Security firm ICTS is hiring for security staff to work at Dublin Airport this summer.

They are currently offering wages of €13.48 basic rate, with additional payment for night shift and a per hour Sunday allowance. The Hold Baggage Screening Officer is a key role at Dublin Airport with responsibility for ensuring the secure, and efficient movement of passengers through the security process at Dublin Airport.

The roles are full-time, part-time, and permanent with part-time hours from 30-45 per week. They also require workers who can do night shifts.

This is the department where all checked luggage is x-rayed prior to being placed on an aircraft. All relevant training will be provided to the successful candidate.

The ideal candidate will provide a high level of customer service at Dublin Airport while interacting with airlines, ground handling agents and passengers, screen hold baggage items using advanced x-ray technology. They will also need to respond to security incidents and emergency situations in a calm and professional manner.

In the online jobs advert, they wrote: "We are currently recruiting security staff for our Hold Baggage Screening department. This is the department where all checked luggage is x-rayed prior to being placed on an aircraft."

Requirements:

Successful candidates are required to have:

  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and work to procedures
  • Excellent dress code/personal hygiene

  • Excellent timekeeping and work ethic

  • Good communication skills-fluent English is needed, both spoken and in writing

  • Flexibility to do shift work

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Ability to sit, stand, bend and walk for long periods of time due to the nature of the role
  • Colour perfect vision for viewing x-ray images.
  • Successful applicants will be wearing personal protective equipment including safety shoes (provided)

As noted in the jobs post, the selection process for these roles will include one online assessment, one interview in person, a 5-year background check, garda vetting and pre-employment medical (including a colour vision test).
