Dublin Airport Hopper service temporarily suspended 'until at least April 2022'

The popular Airport Hopper service to Dublin Airport won't be returning until at least April this year.

The coach provides two different routes and offers Dubliners an affordable way of getting to the airport.

One of the Hopper's routes travels from Maynooth to the Airport and serves Leixlip, Lucan and Liffey Valley on the way.

The second route begins in Tallaght and travels through Clondalkin and Liffey Valley before heading for the airport.

Airport Hopper discontinued their service almost two years ago on March 20, 2020 after Ireland's first lockdown was announced.

With 2021 Dublin Airport passenger numbers still 74% down on pre-pandemic levels, the Hopper has not yet resumed its service.

They said on Facebook last month: "Due to the impact of Covid-19 on our business and our industry, our Airport Hopper services will continue to be temporarily suspended until April 2022.

"After a full review, we regret that we have made this decision as it will not be financially viable to deliver a service in the current climate.

"Thank you for your understanding at this time and really appreciate the support and messages from all our regular customers."

One Maynooth local described the service as "very badly missed in the town".

They said online: "You were always reliable and no-hassle way of getting to and from the airport."
