Dublin Airport is set to get a new set of passport control eGates ahead of the busy summer period.
The state-of-the-art technology at Terminal One will feature flatbed scanners and both increase speed and ease of use for passengers, while also providing for the use of the Passport Card in eGates for the first time.
Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan TD will be launching the brand new eGates on Saturday.
eGates provide secure automated passport validation and security checks on passengers, by using advanced facial recognition technology and integrating with national and international watch lists.
eGates were first opened in Dublin Airport in November 2017 and the new ones will be a welcomed addition to reduce crowding and increase speedier checks at the airport’s passport control.
