Every so often, a kitchen design completely shifts how we think about color, and Dua Lipa's London home has done just that.
The main area of the singer's kitchen is fairly traditional, featuring sleek white-painted cabinetry, a veined marble-topped island, and gold hardware. These elements create a classic, quietly luxurious aesthetic. However, to the right, Lipa boldly breaks up the neutrals.
This season, as the weather turns colder and we look for cozy yet sophisticated interiors, Dua Lipa's blue accent wall is a perfect example of adding instant flair. It proves you can have a refined kitchen while still being playful. This playful blue kitchen idea is designed to start conversations, so it's no surprise that top designers approve.

'Most kitchens lean neutral – white, beige, soft grays. It’s safe, it’s classic... but it can also feel flat. A deep blue accent wall changes everything,' comments Jan Odesanya, the principal interior designer at Mondän & Co Interiors.
'It adds instant contrast and creates a focal point without a major renovation. And depending on the shade, it can make a kitchen feel moody and dramatic or fresh and grounded.' Lipa's choice of a deep navy blue is particularly sophisticated, which is key to using blue without the color feeling overwhelming.
The wall makes a statement but is confined to a specific space, allowing the rest of her white kitchen to maintain a classic feel.
If a daring blue wall isn't for you, Odesanya suggests starting smaller by painting shelves or a breakfast nook. 'If you're looking for a moody navy for instant depth, I recommend a shade like Farrow & Ball’s Hague Blue (sample available here) or Benjamin Moore’s Newburyport Blue (sample here) behind open shelves or around a dining nook makes a kitchen feel rich and layered,' she says.
For a softer, dustier blue that feels particularly calming during the darker months, Odesanya recommends Little Greene’s Hicks’ Blue. 'It pairs beautifully with marble and warm wood,' she adds.
Alternatively, you can follow Lipa's lead with accessories. For a subtle nod to the trend, try introducing rich blue tones with items like these beautiful linens (from Target).
'A blue accent wall – especially in a kitchen – isn’t just a pop of color. It’s a way to add depth, contrast, and a sense of design confidence,' Odesanya says. 'Whether it’s paint, stone, or wallpaper, it brings something to a space that neutrals just can’t achieve.'
