'Drunk History' tells the story of Marjory Stoneman Douglas

Ever wonder about the story of the real-life Marjory Stoneman Douglas? You can now hear it told in a way like never before _ as long as you don't mind your historian guzzling wine, cursing and slurring some of her words.

Yes, the namesake of the Parkland high school was a subject of Tuesday night's episode of "Drunk History" on Comedy Central.

If you haven't seen the show before, its premise is pretty simple: Creator Derek Waters invites celebrities to narrate a historical event while actors play out a lighthearted dramatization. All the while, the narrator is drinking their libation of choice.

In this latest episode, Tess Lynch, the daughter of actress Jane Curtin, tells how activist and writer Marjory Stoneman Douglas fought to preserve the Everglades over a large portion of the last century. Lynch does so as she sips from a glass of white wine (or two, or more), as actress Jayma Mays plays Douglas in the reenactment.

It has its silly moments, but Lynch tears up at the end when explaining how the current students of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have carried on their namesake's legacy "by turning their pain into action."

"They are the pebble in the shoe, they are the nuisance, they are the people who will not let something so important be taken away," Lynch says as the video shows highlights of the Parkland students' activism after last year's shooting at their school.

A teary Lynch concludes by clinking glasses with Waters in a cheers. Then she makes a joke about it being "sweaty here in the Everglades."

According to The Wrap, Waters said he was compelled to tell the story of why this school with its inspiring students had its name. "I want people to know what she stood for, and that's what those kids were taught," he said.
