A large amount of drugs have been seized and a number of people arrested as police continue to battle against organised crime gangs in Merseyside.
On Tuesday, January 11, at around 10.30am Merseyside Police officers on patrol on Stringhey Road in Egremont, Wirral, stopped two men outside a home after noticing a strong smell of cannabis. One of the men was holding a large package of cannabis which officers seized.
Both men aged 29 and 36 were arrested on suspicion of drug offences. Officers then conducted a search of the home and found a large quantity of individual snap bags of cannabis inside.

Both men were taken to a police station in Wirral and remain in custody. A teenage boy, two men and a woman were also arrested at a property on Poole Road in Egremont after suspected Class A and B drugs were found inside.
On Monday, January 9, at around 2.20pm officers in plain clothing spotted several people entering and leaving an address on Poole Road. When they approached the home one of the suspects attempted to lock police out by shutting the doors.
Officers then entered the home and arrested a teenage boy inside after a phone, cash and a large quantity of wraps of white and brown powder were found in the living room. Officers arrested a 16-year-old boy from Liverpool on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Two men aged 66 and 36 and a woman aged 44 who were at the property were also arrested on suspicion of drug offences. They were all taken to a police station in Merseyside where they remain in custody.
Community Policing Inspector Alan McKeon said: “These recent arrests are part of an ongoing operation, targeting suspected organised crime groups and serious violence across Wirral. We hope these increasing figures and the relentless work of our officers over the past month shows our continued commitment in targeting anyone involved in organised crime and removing dangerous drugs from our streets.
"The information we have received from our communities in Wirral has been vital in our recent murder investigation. If you have any information that could continue to help our enquiries or know about any anti-social behaviour or drugs in your area, please contact us and we will do the rest.”
