The third and final part of this series looks at how the drug trade has shifted to areas beyond the reach of law and order, including areas of conflict in Afghanistan and Colombia.
It also looks at so-called “designer drugs” which, easy to manufacture and conceal, have helped transform the drug trade. In Mexico, drug cartels have been a major source of violence, while the United States’s “war on drugs” has devastated communities and led to calls to legalise them.
