Drug driver borrows dad's pick-up truck for the weekend... but gets it seized on M62

A driver who borrowed his dad's pick-up truck for the weekend now faces the embarrassing prospect of telling him it was seized by cops.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police's traffic team followed a black Ford Ranger along the M62.

Three units teamed up to eventually bring the pick-up truck to a stop at junction 11 for Birchwood, near Warrington.

When speaking to the driver, officers discovered that the Ford did not belong to him, but was actually his dad's.

GMP says that the man was not insured on his dad's Ford, and was only a named driver on his own vehicle.

He was also given a drugs test by officers and provided a positive sample for cannabis.

The driver was arrested and his dad's Ford was seized - leaving him facing up to the prospect of giving his father some bad news today (September 5).

In a post on Twitter, a GMP Traffic spokesperson wrote: "XT11, ME11 and ME51 teamed up to stop this Ford Ranger on the M62 at junction 11.

"The driver had borrowed his dad's car for the weekend... no insurance on the car.

"Named driver only on his own vehicle and he then failed a drugs test [positive for] cannabis.

"Arrested, car seized."
