Drone footage captures sprawling refugee camp home to 30,000 displaced Iraqis

Drone footage has been released by Associated Press showing a sprawling refugee camp for displaced Iraqis around the town of Dibaga, south-east of Mosul.

The refugee camp was built in 2015 but it has expanded rapidly in recent months as the Iraqi Armed forces launch operations against the Islamic State, south of Mosul.

More than 45,000 people have fled their homes because of the fighting in the area since March, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).

The camp has had several new sections added to it since the start of the year and now provides shelter for over 30,000 people. More than 4,000 have arrived in the last two weeks alone.

UNHCR report that 3.2 million people have been internally displaced in Iraq since January 2014, with 60% of these people living outside of refugee camps.
