A driver sped off from the scene following a two-vehicle crash which left a person seriously injured.
The smash happened on Princess Road, near junction 5 of the M60 in Didsbury, on Saturday evening.
Police, fire crews and paramedics raced to the scene shortly before 7.20pm.
A patient was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
A spokesman for GMP said: "Police, fire and ambulance crews were called at 7.20pm to Princess Road near the McDonalds.
"Two vehicles were involved. One of the drivers has made off.
"There were injuries. Someone at the scene suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
"We are still attempting to locate the other driver."
The spokesman did not have the age or gender of the injured person.
