Driver removed from car and treated on roadside after crash

A woman was removed from her car and treated on the roadside after a crash.

Merseyside Police were called to Arrowe Park Road in Upton, Wirral, just after 5pm on Thursday, May 25, following reports of a collison. Once officers arrived they found a white Renault Captur and a red Jaguar had crashed opposite a Shell petrol station near the Sainsbury's roundabout.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene as the driver of the Renault Captur, a woman, was trapped in her vehicle. Pictures from the scene show the two cars at the side of the road with Jaguar pressed against the side door of the Renault.

Firefighters managed to remove the woman from her vehicle, where paramedics were then able to assess her injuries. The most recent update from Merseyside Police said she was receiving treatment at the scene.

They were not able to confirm how serious the woman's injuries were. No arrests have been made.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "Just after 5pm this afternoon (Thursday 25 May) we received a report of a collision involving a white Renault Captur and a red Jaguar on Arrowe Park Road in Upton. The driver of the Renault Capture is being removed from her vehicle by Merseyside Fire and Rescue Officers and is receiving medical treatment by paramedics at the scene."

Traffic was struggling in Upton following the crash, due to the road being partially blocked by emergency services.
