Driver 'ran out of talent' outside Bristol as car abandoned on its roof

Police are searching for the driver of a car that was left abandoned after overturning outside Bristol.

The car flipped on Sodbury Lane, Westerleigh in South Gloucestershire shortly before 7pm last night (Thursday, March 11), with the driver leaving the scene before officers arrived.

The car was discovered by officers on its roof after the driver "ran out of talent", according to the force.

The Special Constables from Avon and Somerset Police tweeted that officers had attempted to trace the driver using dogs but that it was believed they had been picked up by friends nearby.

The team also tweeted photos of the car on its roof.

The tweet said: "Another good shift tonight catching up with an old friend on @ASPoliceDogs.

"Driver ran out of talent and made off from this car. We had a good track for about a mile with PD JET, but think they were picked up by friends.

"On the upside, they won’t be getting the car back!"

A further statement from Avon and Somerset Police confirmed nobody had been traced in relation to the situation and that anyone with any information should contact police.

The statement said: "Yesterday (Thursday, March 11) shortly before 7pm we were made aware of a vehicle had overturned and left the road in Sodbury Lane, Westerleigh.

"The driver and any passengers had left the scene by the time officers arrived.

"An area tour was carried out, with assistance from the police helicopter and the dogs unit, but those involved were not traced.

"Enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone who saw what happened should call 101 and give reference number 5221052570."
