A road in Swansea has been closed after a motorist flipped their car on a busy road.

The incident happened on Derwyn Fawr Road in Sketty at around 2pm on Sunday afternoon.

Fire crews have been at the scene along with ambulance personnel and officers from South Wales Police .

The driver had to be cut free by firefighters after the car overturned on the road and landed on its roof.

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called to the scene of an incident on Derwyn Fawr Road in Sketty at 2.02pm.

“The driver of a vehicle was extricated by fire crews from Swansea West and Swansea Central using hydraulic cutting equipment.

“Crews remained at the scene to make the area safe and left the scene shortly after 2.37pm.”

The Welsh Ambulance Service said they did send an emergency ambulance to the scene but confirmed that nobody was taken to hospital.

According to police, the car has now been "righted" following the incident but the road remains closed as they await for it to be recovered from the scene.
