Driver flees after car overturns on residential street in north Manchester

Police are investigating after a car ended up on its roof during a collision on a residential street in north Manchester.

The Volkswagen T-Roc overturned on Briscoe Lane, in Newton Heath just before 4pm on Thursday.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the car was involved in a collision with a BMW.

The Vokswagen driver failed to remain at the scene, police said.

It is not thought that anyone was injured during the collision.

Briscoe Lane was closed for a short time while police dealt with the incident.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called at 3.49pm to a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision with one vehicle on its roof on Briscoe Lane, in Newton Heath.

"Two cars, a silver Volkswagen T-Roc and red BMW were involved.

The road was closed for a short time (ASP)

"The driver of the Volkswagen, which ended up on its roof, failed to remain at the scene.

"There are no reports of injuries.

"Road closures were in place on Briscoe Lane between the junctions with Ten Acres and Scotland Hall Road. The road re-opened 5.17pm."
