Driver caught watching music videos on YouTube at wheel of his van

A driver was caught watching music videos at the wheel of a van in Bolton.

When he was stopped by police, the motorist said his stereo didn't work so he 'always plays music videos' during his travels.

The driver was issued a traffic offence report following the incident, which happened on Folds Road on Monday.

He was 'very apologetic' after officers gave him an 'education of what he was doing wrong', police said.

PC Phil Raymond, from the GMP Traffic Unit, said: "He accepted it and was very apologetic.

"He ended up with a TOR for having a television in sight of driver."

PC Raymond said an increasing number of drivers are being caught watching videos while at the wheel.

He said: "It seems to be a growing trend with drivers at the moment who place their mobiles or satnavs in the centre of their windscreen.

"Not only is it a distraction for the driver but also creates a blind spot for their view of the road, hazards and most importantly pedestrians.

"Ideally when driving a vehicle your mobile phone should be either switched off, put on mute, left in a pocket or a bag, or the very least connected to Bluetooth.
