Driver arrested after two young men die in Whitburn car crash horror

Two men tragically died following a high-speed crash in Whitburn, West Lothian, early this morning.

Emergency services raced to the one-car crash on the A706, Longridge Road, at around 5am today.

A Subaru car left the road and two male passengers, aged 23 and 19, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A further two male passengers, aged 52 and 28, were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 25-year-old male driver, who sustained a serious injury that required hospital treatment, has been arrested in connection with road traffic offences and enquiries are ongoing.

Inspector Roger Park, of Lothians Road Policing Unit said: “This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the men’s family and friends at this time.

“Investigations into the crash are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with information which could assist our enquiries to call 101, quoting 0858 of 29 August".
