Drive-through Covid testing that gives a result in an hour now available at Dublin Airport

Drive-through Covid testing that gives a result in an hour is now available at Dublin Airport.

The antigen check, costing €89, must be booked in advance online but is available to anyone.

It has been set up by Irish healthcare company RocDoc at the Express Green long-term car park.

Chief Executive David Rock said: “We have been trialling antigen tests at RocDoc for a number of weeks now and we are very pleased to announce that we are the first company to provide antigen tests at an Irish airport.

“The service is able at both our drive-thru and walkthrough testing facilities at the airport. We would encourage passengers to arrive in adequate time to get the test done before heading through the airport.”

It was introduced after the Dutch government’s announcement on Thursday that all passengers flying into the Netherlands must produce a negative antigen result immediately before departure, as well as a PCR test up to 72 hours before departure.

Antigen tests are quick but not as accurate as a PCR, which take longer to provide a result because it has to be processed in a laboratory

RocDoc, which also offers pre-departure PCRs, plans to spread its antigen testing across other facilities.
