Drink drive suspect arrested in her South Belfast home after crash

Police have entered a woman's home in South Belfast and arrested her on suspicion of drink driving following a road crash in the area.

They reported that a preliminary test showed the suspect, from the Malone area, to be more than three times over the legal limit for alcohol.

A spokesperson for PSNI South Belfast , said: "We responded to a report of an RTC on the Upper Malone Road today where the driver of the offending vehicle was suspected to be intoxicated.

"We called to her house but she didn’t want to talk to us. Unfortunately for her, we have powers under law to force entry. Once she finally understood this, she let us in only to be arrested for driving whilst unfit.

"In custody, she refused to comply with an evidential breath test and now gets to sleep off the drink before being charged to court for failing to provide a specimen of breath.

"One day the message will get across. Do not drink and drive."
