Draymond Green speaks out on checkered history

Draymond Green is set to make his return from a five-game suspension when the Golden State Warriors face the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday (Nov. 28.) The veteran forward will provide a big boost to Golden State’s organization and defensive versatility. However, Green is keen to ensure he’s treated fairly following his latest incident.

When speaking to the media on Sunday (Nov. 26,) Green noted how he’s paid for his previous mistakes with fines and suspensions. As such, he hopes to return to the rotation with a clean slate as far as the game officials are concerned.

“To continue mentioning like, ‘Oh, well, what he did in the past…’ I paid for those, like I got suspended in Game 5 of the Finals,” Green said. “So you can’t keep suspending me for those actions. But, in saying that, I’m also one to admit when I’m at fault. It is what it is. For me, anytime there’s a situation and a teammate needs you to come to their defense, I’m going to come to their defense.”

Golden State will now be hoping that Green can help them overcome a stern in-season tournament game against the Kings. A win could see the Warriors progress onto the knockout stages.

Whether Green’s return is enough to get the Warriors back on track will remain to be seen, but his presence within the rotation certainly won’t hurt. He’s their vocal leader and defensive floor general, and that can only help against a Kings team that continues to impress on the offensive end.
