Dramatic pictures show fire near plane at East Midlands Airport

Pictures have been revealed showing a fire that broke out at a major airport near Nottinghamshire.

The photos, captured by Coopers Dimension Photography show large plumes of smoke ascending from a power source on the grounds of East Midlands Airport.

According to witnesses, the fire started close to a Kallita Air Boeing 747-400F (N706CK), but fortunately, an airport spokesman has confirmed no one was injured and the aircraft was not damaged.

The incident happened around 1pm on Tuesday, June 29.

An East Midlands Airport spokesperson, said: “Just before 1pm today, a piece of ground handling equipment ignited resulting in a prompt response from airport fire crews who quickly extinguished the flames.

"No one was harmed and aircraft were not damaged.”
