Dramatic photos show armed cops swoop on Midlothian home as street placed on lock down

Armed police swooped on a Midlothian home last night as residents in the area were placed on lock down.

Officers from Police Scotland were seen on a housing estate in the Hunterfield Terrace area of Gorebridge at around 8pm.

Residents in the area were kept in the dark as cops, dressed in black uniforms and helmets, focused on a property.

People living in the area took to social media to report what was going on.

Angela Scally posted snaps on social media of the incident and said: "At least 10 police officers and two dogs, they have blocked off the street and they are armed officers."

Another neighbour Angie Collins reported that her children were told to not leave the street and stay indoors.

Molly Anthoney wasn't sure what was going on in Gorebridge (Twitter)

Molly Anthoney took to Twitter to say: "Omg wot is happening in Gorebridge all blocked off & about 6 police cars, dogs & police walking about with guns."

It is believed someone has been taken into custody as a result of the incident.
