Dramatic moment a car catches fire on the M60

This is the dramatic scene after a car caught fire on the M60.

Two lanes of the motorway were closed while firefighters dealt with the blaze, which started at around 2.10pm.

The vehicle caught on fire on the clockwise carriageway between junctions 15 at Swinton and 17 at Prestwich, just before 2pm.

Firefighters were at the scene for over an hour (@rian951)

No injuries have been reported.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 1.52pm on Saturday March 6 firefighters were called to reports of a vehicle fire on the M60 clockwise between junctions 16 and 17.

“One fire engine from Agecroft station quickly attended the scene.

“The fire involved a car and the hard shoulder of the motorway.

“Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a house reel to bring the fire under control and were in attendance for approximately one hour and 20 minutes.”
