Dramatic fire rips through East Ayrshire bowling green as owners hunt for sick vandals

Sick vandals have caused severe damage to an Ayrshire bowling green.

Owners of the Northwest Bowling Club in Kilmarnock are seeking information after a hedge surrounding the green was set on fire last night.

The blaze was put out by attending emergency services – but it has left those who are involved with the Wardneuk Drive club heartbroken.

The club's owners said of the incident: "To the people who have done this tonight, I hope you are proud of yourselves!

"A lot of people have put a mountain of work into this place for scum like you to destroy it.

"This is the damage done to the Northwest Bowling Club by some thoughtless clowns tonight.

"If anyone has any knowledge of those responsible please pass their names onto us."

A Police Scotland spokesperson told Ayrshire Live: "Around 8.40pm on Wednesday, March 30, officers were called to Wardneuk Drive, Kilmarnock, following reports of an earlier fire.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and the fire is being treated as wilful."
