Dragons' Den Impossibrew: Health scare that led to no-alcohol mood-boost beer - prices and stockists

A startup making alcohol-free beer infused with plants is among the businesses hoping to win the support of the Dragons on Dragons’ Den tonight (January 27th).

In the latest episode of the hit BBC show - which sees entrepreneurs trying to win financial backing for their fledgling businesses - Mark Wong makes the case for Impossibrew and its range of mood-enhancing alcohol-free beers.

So what exactly is Impossibrew, what makes it different from ordinary alcohol-free beers - and where can you buy it?

What is Impossibrew?

Impossibrew is a Durham-based startup making a range of alcohol-free beers, infused with plants for a mood-enhancing tipple - without the need for alcohol.

Founder Mark Wong was inspired to add plants to beer to enhance the drinking experience, after he was advised to stop drinking alcohol and had to seek alternatives.

Being of Asian descent himself, he was inspired to look into his own ancestral past for inspiration when developing his range of booze-free beers.

Impossibrew beer includes active natural botanical ingredients - including L-Theanine - and is also low in sugar, gluten-free, vegan-friendly and low-calorie.

Who founded Impossibrew?

Mark Wong, a young entrepreneur from Durham, established Impossibrew inspired by his own love of beer - and a personal need to find alternatives to alcohol.

After studying alcohol professionally from the age of 18, he was advised to stop drinking it following a health scare. This led him to look for other, alcohol-free options.

He subsequently came across the Kissa Yojoki, a 13th-century Japanese treatise on tea which discusses the use of natural herbs to enhance both body and mind.

This led him to create what became Impossibrew, initially brewing his new non-alcoholic beers in his own kitchen.

How much is Impossibrew beer?

Taster cases (containing four 440ml cans) from the Impossibrew range are available for £14.99, with 12-can cases at £29.99, 24-can cases for £59.28 and 48-can sharing cases for £116.64.

Where can I buy Impossibrew beer?

You can browse and buy beers from the Impossibrew range via the company’s online shop.
