Dragons' Den entrepreneur Sara Davies reveals plans to publish second book

Entrepreneur and TV Dragon Sara Davies has announced she is writing a second book on a subject close to her heart.

The County Durham businesswoman has been making appearances on a number of TV shows including Morning Live and Loose Women, as well as starting to film the next series of Dragons’ Den. But the founder of Crafter’s Companion revealed earlier this year how her company is investing £500,000 to boost her position as the ‘crafting queen’ of the UK.

The firm, which sells crafting tools and supplies across the UK and in countries around the globe, said it was making the significant investment into technology to bolster her presence online. As the head of the Newton Aycliffe business, now a £38m turnover company employing more than 200 people, Ms Davies cites a large part of the firm’s success with her regular appearances on shopping and hobby channels around the world to promote the products – and now the former Strictly Come Dancing star has revealed plans to publish her own book on crafting.

The book will be published this autumn, and comes a year after she published her autobiography – We Can All Make It – in which she explores how she built her multimillion-pound business while still at York University.

She said: “So, at the start of last year I started working on a really special project and I am so glad that I’m finally able to share it with you all because I have been bursting at the seams to tell you! Craft Your Year is my very first craft book. It’s jam-packed full of loads of different projects to take you all the way through the year covering all of the important occasions that loads of like to celebrate such as Mother’s and Father’s Day, Easter, Halloween and Christmas, plus loads of other things like card and gift box ideas, to home décor bits and decorations.

“And while I’m hoping that you’ll all love this book to maybe give you inspiration for some new projects, it’s also perfect for absolute beginners who might have been thinking about doing making something but don’t know where to start because it’s got step by step instructions and helpful images to guide you every single step of the way. It’s always been an aspiration of mine to bring out a book on craft, and it’s something that I’ve been asked about too so I hope you love it!”

The book, Craft Your Year, is set to be published in late October.

At the start of the year the craft supplies company revealed in its accounts how it has been investing in new products and product development to strengthen its brand awareness in the face of rising costs.
