Dr Sarah Jarvis has issued a quarantine warning for travellers going through Europe.
The Good Morning Britain doc spoke out to deter anyone attempting to avoid having to self isolate for 14 days by driving through countries that aren't on the quarantine list.
Her warning came as it was confirmed that France would be added to the UK’s list of quarantine countries.
Speaking to hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Sean Fletcher, Sarah addressed viewers at home and urged them to stick to the rules.
Dr Sarah explained: "Just to briefly point out, that if you do come back via a country which isn't under the new quarantine rules, that doesn't mean that you can avoid quarantine.
"It's really important to note that you can't just decide to go via Italy to get back to the UK.
"Because if you come in and you've been in one of those countries in the last 14 days, then you will have to stick to lockdown until the end, from the last time that you left that country."
Announcing the news about France, the government said that holidaymakers arriving back in the UK must quarantine for 14 days.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised against all but essential travel. The enforcement begins at 4am on Saturday.
Transport secretary Grant Shapps announced the measure on Twitter.
Mr Shapps said: "Data shows we need to remove France, the Netherlands, Monaco, Malta, Turks & Caicos & Aruba from our list of Coronavirus Travel Corridors to keep infection rates down.
"If you arrive in the UK after 4am Saturday from these destinations, you will need to self-isolate for 14 days."
