Dr Dre has been discharged from hospital and returned to the studio after suffering a brain aneurysm.

The rapper and producer was taken to Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles on 4 January. News of Dre's condition trickled in via social media, with fellow rapper Ice-T reporting on 15 January that Dre had returned home and was in good health.

“Update: Just FaceTimed with @drdre. He just made it home. Safe and looking good,” Ice-T wrote.

Most recently, Dr Dre was seen in an Instagram post by producer Dem Jointz where he's in the studio with a crew, including rapper-producer The D.O.C., in front of a mixing board.

“And we back!” Dem Jointz captioned. “#Detox21.”

Detox is the name of Dre's unreleased follow-up to his second album, 2001. The rapper had worked on it for years before shelving it in 2015, claiming it had not met his expectations.

In a 2019 interview with Billboard, Flying Lotus opened up about the fabled album, saying Dre had asked him what he thought.

“When I came to the studio, he played me Detox. He was like, ‘You f**k with it or what?!’ I was like, ‘Yeah!’ He was just super hyped on it... We were listening to the s**t and he was dancing around the studio with his wife and s**t. He has that feeling like, ‘F**k yeah. I'm rich as f**k, but I'm having a great time still.’ It was really cool to see.”

As fans learned about Dre’s aneurysm earlier this month, he was quick to reassure fans on Instagram. “Thanks to my family, friends and fans for their interest and well wishes,” he captioned. “I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team. I will be out of the hospital and back home soon.”
