The 2025 DP World Tour Championship has reached its halfway point and the leaderboard is beginning to take shape with a number of big names duking it out near the top.
While first-round leader Michael Kim suffered a frustrating second outing to fall way down the standings, Rory McIlroy built on his opening 66 with a Friday 69 (-3) to climb into a share of second alongside a couple of his Ryder Cup teammates.
Shane Lowry and Justin Rose are also a part of the immediate chasing pack on nine-under thanks to scores of 67 (-5), but they each remain three strokes behind 36-hole leader Nicolai Hojgaard on 12-under.
Hojgaard, who won this event in 2023 while his twin brother Rasmus finished second last year, has fellow Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen for company on Saturday after lighting up the Earth Course's front nine in just 30 shots before completing his day via a much more modest one-under second half.
Meanwhile, New Zealand's Daniel Hiller - who has enjoyed a very good past 10 days in the Middle East so far - carded a second-round 68 to complete the group in T2nd at this stage.

Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntyre, Alex Noren and Laurie Canter complete the top-10 while Tyrrell Hatton and Angel Ayora are in good positions to challenge in T11th on seven-under.
Marco Penge, McIlroy's only realistic challenger for the Race To Dubai title, improved on his poor opening day (74 +2) but still remains outside the top-40 in the 52-man no-cut tournament on level par.
Another player who responded well to a frustrating Thursday was Jordan Smith. The Englishman fired a first-round 75 to lose his place as the final pro in position to win one of the 10 PGA Tour cards on offer, but he fared better on Friday via a two-under round of 70.
Nevertheless, Smith will need better still as Hillier is set to usurp him if the standings remain in a similar position through 72 holes.
Moving into Saturday's round three, tee times once again begin at 8:15am local time and continue until the final group starts at 12:40pm local time.
