The Meteorological Department has issued a rainstorm alert for Sunday and Monday for Ranong and Phangnga and urged small boats along the Andaman Coast to stay ashore due to rough seas.

Ranong and Phangnga are the two provinces expected to be hit by downpours for at least two days, while moderate rain is anticipated in 24 other provinces across the country and Greater Bangkok only on Sunday, the weather office said.

The department also warned of high seas in Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket provincial waters that would pose a danger for small boats, while Krabi, Trang and Satun would encounter only small waves.

Heavy rain lashed Chon Buri, nearby provinces and Greater Bangkok on Saturday, causing flooding on some roads. The department said the most affected districts were Taling Chan, Thawi Watthana, Bangkok Noi, Bang Phlad, Dusit, Chatuchak, Lak Si and Don Muang.
