Downpatrick road reopens following RTC involving young pedestrian

Police advised motorists on Sunday evening to avoid a Co Down road following an incident.

The Flying Horse Road in Downpatrick, was closed between Struell Avenue and Old Course Road following a road traffic collision involving a young pedestrian.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorist in Downpatrick: please be advised that the Flying Horse Road is presently closed between Struell Avenue and Old Course Road. It may be some time before it reopens but we will try to keep you all updated."

A spokesperson for Northern Ireland Ambulance Service told Belfast Live that they received a 999 call at 6.39pm on Sunday evening.

He added: "NIAS received the call following reports of a road traffic collision involving a young pedestrian on the Flying Horse Road in Downpatrick.

"NIAS dispatched a rapid response paramedic and emergency crew. The HEMS team also attended by car.

"No one was taken from the scene."
