Double sporting success for Armadale Academy

Armadale Academy enjoyed double success as their under-13 football team were crowned West Lothian Schools’ champions – with the school’s S1-3 netball side also grabbing county glory.

The footballers took the trophy thanks to a nervy 2-1 victory over reigning champions Linlithgow Academy.

The game started with great intensity and culminated in a deserved half-time lead for Armadale courtesy of a goal from Max Ramsay.

Linlithgow became more of a threat in the second half with a number of shots towards the Armadale goal but they were hit on the counter-attack as Kaiden Cosgrove beat two players on the edge of the box before firing beyond the keeper.

Linlithgow continued to put Armadale under pressure and got themselves back into the match with a stunning free-kick but Armadale kept their opponents at bay to ensure that captain Aidan McPhillips lifted the trophy.

Meanwhile the S1-3 girls’ netball side defeated Bathgate Academy 5-2 in the play-off final after they had won five of their six league games.

The Armadale Academy girls played with a huge amount of enthusiasm and passion for the game and will no doubt continue to go from strength to strength in the coming years.
