Jessica Fox's reputation as the greatest paddler of them all has been elevated to new heights as she continued her comeback by completing an astonishing golden kayak-canoe double at the World Cup meeting in Prague.

The 31-year-old triple Olympic champion, who'd taken the the K1 crown on Friday, doubled down with victory in the C1 on Saturday, pulling off the double success in only her second competition back since she underwent surgery to remove a benign tumour from her left kidney nine months ago.

Once again showing she's lost none of her old dominance, the Olympic canoe champ, who took silver in her comeback event last week in Slovenia, was even able to overcome a couple of mistakes on the challenging Troja course and still emerge triumphant.

"I didn't know what to expect this season, coming back into racing after such a big time off," admitted 14-time world champ Fox, who's burnishing her standing as canoeing's 'GOAT' by taking her unsurpassed total of World Cup triumphs to an incredible 57.

"So to be back out there, enjoying racing, back with this community and back on the podium is such a joy.

"I feel so grateful for everyone who has helped me get back out there and has helped me along the way."

In her first C1 competition since the surgery, Fox had to dig deep to prevail, getting penalties for touches on two successive gates which added four penalty seconds to her run time, but she didn't panic and still posted a time of 121.01.

That proved enough to take the gold from home paddler Martina Satkova, who finished 0.27 off Fox's time in 121.28.

"It was a really hard course, very physical, really technical and challenging moves," said Fox.

"For me, it was a lesson in never giving up and staying composed and trying to hold it together until the finish.

"Even though I made that mistake and touched those two gates, everyone battles so you don't know what is going to happen, but I am proud of myself for getting back in the canoe and to come out with a double gold is more than I could have hoped for."
