Donlaphatchai, Kim in command at Green Valley

Donlaphatchai Niyomchon acknowledges the fans during the third round.

rayong: Donlaphatchai Niyomchon and Kim Joo-Hyung shared the third round lead at the two-million-baht Singha Championship yesterday.

Donlaphatchai shot a four-under 67 to tie the 16-year-old Kim on nine-under 204 at the par-71 Rayong Green Valley Country Club.

Donlaphatchai, 28, had five birdies and one bogey to surge to the top of the leaderboard alongside the Korean teenager, who fired a flawless seven-under-par 64.

"I was just trying to enjoy myself out there today and it seemed to work," said Donlaphatchai, who is chasing his first career title. "I didn't think too far ahead but only concentrated on the things I needed to do on the course.

"My approach shots were great today. I tried to keep it simple, keep it on the fairways and then on the greens," he added.

Donlaphatchai also played down the expectations on a course where conditions changed on all three days.

"At the beginning of the week, my goal was to enjoy myself and have a good week of golf."

Pawin Ingkhapradit, who led the first two rounds, had a one-over 72 and slipped to joint second place alongside Chapchai Nirat (69) and Thitipat Phatam (65).

Defending champion Chanachok Dejpiratanamongkol (67) was tied for 14th on four-under 209.
