Trump repeats call for arrest of political enemies days after ‘vermin’ attack - Live

Trump suggests using DOJ and FBI to indict political rivals

A top adviser to Donald Trump told colleagues in December 2020 that his boss would not leave the White House “under any circumstances”, new video alleges.

Dan Scavino, then Mr Trump’s chief of staff and director of social media, said the president would “just stay in power” regardless of election rules.

The accusation was made by former Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis as part of a plea bargain with Georgia state prosecutors, who have charged Mr Trump and 18 others with plotting to illegally overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election.

Meanwhile, Mr Trump’s attorneys have begun to present their defence argument in his New York civil fraud trial. The former president’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr was the first witness, launching into a lengthy sales pitch praising his father’s real estate “artistry”.

On his Truth Social platform on Tuesday, moments before the trial resumed in lower Manhattan, Mr Trump shared a post from a supporter whose “fantasy” is seeing New York Attorney General Letitia James and Judge Arthur Engoron “placed under citizens arrest” for “blatant election interference and harassment.”

This comes just days after he was compared to Hitler for describing his adversaries as “vermin”.
