Donald Trump Iowa rally branded 'superspreader event' by giant billboard

Donald Trump's rally in Iowa tonight was branded a "superspreader event" on a giant billboard posted outside the venue.

The President is visiting Des Moines tonight for his third rally in a key swing state in as many days.

But he has been strongly criticised for the lack of social distancing at the events, where it is rare for attendees to wear face coverings.

Ahead of tonight's debate, a campaign group called Rural America 2020 paid for a billboard outside the event, with a bright red sign saying "Trump Covid superspreader event" and a large arrow pointing towards the entrance.

Iowa has experienced a spike in COVID-19 cases, with hospitalizations at an all-time high.

Republican Governor Kim Reynolds has resisted any statewide containment measures such as a mandate to wear masks and urged Trump supporters on social media to turn out en masse for the president.

Earlier, the President stifled a cough as he struggled to deliver a White House speech.

The President has claimed to feel like "Superman" after suffering from Covid-19 last week.

He's claimed a cocktail of drugs given to him during his stay at Walter Reed medical hospital had made him feel "powerful", and told crowds at packed, largely mask-free rallies, that he was now "immune" to the virus.

But Trump croaked his way through a speech to the Economic Club of New York in the White House rose garden this afternoon.

He delivered the speech just hours before First Lady Melania Trump revealed that their son, Barron, 14, had also tested positive for coronavirus.

She said he had experienced no symptoms and had since tested negative.
