Nottingham Forest fans have been responding to Coventry City manager Mark Robins’ verdict on the Reds’ match-winning penalty last night.
Lyle Taylor netted from the penalty spot in the sixth minute of added time to secure a 2-1 win after he had been brought down by Kyle McFadzean.
Robins said: “If you touch Lyle Taylor he will go down, inside or outside the box. You cannot give him the opportunity to do that.
“McFadzean is saying that he did not touch him but there was clearly a coming together and as soon as he felt contact he was going to go down, which gave the referee a decision to make.”
Here’s what Forest fans have had to say on our Nottingham Forest – Nottinghamshire Live Facebook page.
Neil Langton: There was a foul, not the worst foul but a penalty was inevitable really. Figueiredo on the other hand was embarrassing when he flung himself to the ground when he clearly wasn’t touched, not what you want to see but it’s a curse of the modern game. Look at the way Derby players did it every time we went near them!!!!!
Sue Chambers: Deffo penalty. If it's not I would say even if it's my team. Some team’s managers just cannot accept a loss. We have had plenty in the past even when playing well. Maybe this will help boost our confidence.
Matt Hallsworth: It was a clear penalty. You can’t clearly push a player in the back inside the penalty area... no matter how hard it is.
Craig Smith: Wasn’t a pen in my eyes but who cares, 3pts up the reds!!!
Ian Carrington: It was a penalty but I feel for Coventry as I know what it's like to be robbed. I think Coventry will do ok in the Championship though, best of luck to them.
Scott Markham: I agree with what he’s saying on the analysis alone. But it was a clear penalty and they really shot themselves in the foot for giving it away. A win is a win and we really need to step up for Saturday because the 2nd half performance was unacceptable. Drop Freeman and Colback and bring in Ameobi or Mighten and Arter in for Saturday. MOTM was clearly McKenna.
Anthony Sissons: Bit rich from a man whose centre halves were diving....when 6ft 3 defenders start diving the game is gone.
A J Owen: Don’t touch him in the box then. It’s not massively hard is it.
