Dominik Szoboszlai arrives in Liverpool for final step before transfer deal

Dominik Szoboszlai has arrived in Liverpool to take medical tests and finalise his transfer from RB Leipzig.

The midfielder is set to follow Alexis Mac Allister through the door at Anfield and become the second summer signing in Jurgen Klopp's squad rebuild.

As the ECHO confirmed last night, the Reds have informed Leipzig they are willing to trigger the £60m release clause for Szoboszlai. Earlier today it emerged that he had been given permission to travel over to the UK for his medical.

And eagle-eyed plane trackers seemingly pinpointed the exact flight he was on - a private Omni Aviation jet that flew from Budapest to Liverpool this afternoon.

In footage posted on Twitter by @DaveOCKOP just after 1pm (see below), further evidence appeared to show Szoboszlai stepping out of an aircraft and into the trademark silver van that has become a regular sight for Liverpool recruits during transfer windows.

It remains to be seen how quickly Szoboszlai can be assessed by the club's staff, before a potential announcement takes place.

Personal terms are not expected to be an issue and the Hungary star is likely to sign a five-year deal after making it known he was desperate to work under Jurgen Klopp.

Newcastle United had also been interested in the attacking midfielder, 22, but after Liverpool held a meeting with the player's EM Sports agency earlier this week, it was made clear how much Szoboszlai wanted to play for Klopp.

The ECHO understands that a good relationship between Liverpool and Leipzig helped during the short negotiating process - with talks initially coming when the two clubs were thrashing out Fabio Carvalho's season-long loan move to Germany, which was confirmed on Friday afternoon.
